Portrait of a Young Man
The young man in this portrait is sitting in an undefined interior, where a large pink curtain covers almost the entirety of the background, save for a small section that reveals an antique statue of two figures, thought to be Bacchus and a satyr. The man, seated at a desk, is gently holding an open a blue book with empty pages. His black jacket is loose on his body, with minor details on the sleeves, and an incredibly intricate white lace collar. There is ongoing debate about who the sitter is, as the statue in the background and the book could be clues to his identity.
Below [1] & [2]: Both of these portraits are further examples of works by Bronzino with unidentified young men. They have similar dress and the presence of a statue.
